Returning from vacation is never the most fun part. Although there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed, right?!

Your body isn't the only thing craving a little TLC post-vacay. Your jewelry needs a little extra attention, too.

Here's your quick post-vacation jewelry to-do list. (It'll be worth it, we promise.)

1. Run through your inventory

Remember that personal jewelry inventory you created before you left? Time to put that to good use.

Quickly run through and make sure you can account for all your jewelry. Even if you didn't bring much, it's pretty easy for a diamond earring to mysteriously disappear. (See what we did there? We cover that!)

2. Report any missing pieces

Hopefully everything in your inventory is right where it should be. But if not, it's imperative that you take action as soon as possible. The more time that passes from the instance of loss, the less likely you are to find your missing jewelry.

Depending on how and where you lost your jewelry, the first step may differ. Our lost ring checklist will show you where to start.

3. Visit your jeweler

Even if you followed all our guidelines on when not to wear your jewelry, it can't hurt to get a professional inspection and cleaning.

Your jeweler can make sure nothing is loose and buff and shine your piece back to its original glory.

4. Return to storage

Once all your jewelry is accounted for and cleaned up, make sure to store it safely.

Not sure what's considered safe for jewelry storage? We've got a post for that too: Where to store an engagement ring.
