Losing or damaging your jewelry is hard. Filing a claim shouldn’t be. Learn how filing a claim works, and what makes our process so remarkably easy (we’ve worked hard to make it turnkey).
For specific claims inquiries, call 888-884-2424 or email plclaims@jminsure.com. Hours: 7 AM - 5 PM CST, M-F.
There are no time limits for filing a claim, but the sooner you file, the sooner we can start making things right.
Tell us what happened and provide all the necessary information. After submitting your claim, you’ll receive an automated email. Breathe easy. Your examiner will reach out to you within four business days to guide you through the next steps.
You approve all decisions on how to proceed. For repairs, we authorize your preferred jeweler to proceed with your claim, fixing what needs to be fixed. For replacements, we cover the current cost to replace your item with a piece of the same kind and quality (or up to the coverage limit for that item, whichever value is lower). You can also choose to upgrade to a more expensive piece, paying your jeweler the difference in cost.
You pay your jeweler directly when you pick up your piece. If it was fully restored, your claims journey is over. If you have an entirely replaced piece of jewelry, remember to reach out to our customer care to add the new item to your insurance policy.
For all claims we need the policyholder to draft a quick and simple explanation of how the loss or damage occurred. In some instances, we will request an additional statement from other individuals named on your policy.
We need to verify that we’re protecting the correct item for the right policyholder. We need a receipt, an appraisal, or a dated photo of the jewelry that proves the piece belongs to you. Learn why getting regularly scheduled appraisals is so important.
For certain claims, we need a police report to get your jewelry replaced as soon as possible (we will let you know if your claim needs one).
Unlike other insurers, who send you a check and expect you to take care of the rest, our Repair or Replacement policy is designed to make you the decision-maker, but remove any hassle from your life. We deal with the details of a repair or replacement—not you. You simply pick your jeweler (we only require one estimate), then our claims professionals make sure the repair or replacement matches the same kind and quality compared to your original piece. Let us handle it.
When filing a jewelry claim, a deductible refers to the amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance coverage kicks in. Most of our policies start with a $0 deductible, but selecting a higher deductible usually lowers your annual premium.
If your policy does have a deductible, you'll pay it directly to your jeweler when you pick up your repaired or replaced jewelry—no surprises or bills in the mail.
If your policy has a $0 deductible and the replacement cost is equal to or less than what you insured your item for, you won’t have to pay anything.
With over 110 years in business, we’ve built strong relationships with jewelers and handle all the payment details directly with them.
We have claims experts who actually understand jewelry. With over 150 years of combined experience, our claims team has consistently maintained a world-class Net Promoter Score (NPS) for the past decade. NPS is a key indicator of customer satisfaction and loyalty, reflecting how likely customers are to recommend our services to others. We’re proud of this because extraordinary customer service is at the heart of everything we do.

Each claim is unique. We always strive to take care of each claim quickly and professionally, guided by your unique situation and needs.
If you haven’t received your repair or replacement yet, give us a call and we’ll close your claim. If you already have your new jewelry, you can return either the original or the replacement to us.
We will authorize the jeweler to replace your insured item with a stone of the same kind and quality. If an exact match is unavailable, we will make every effort to find a comparable element. You’re in charge. Before your jeweler begins any work, you approve any and all decisions.
Once you file a claim, your jewelry will be repaired or replaced with an item of the same kind and quality. We collaborate directly with your jeweler. So if you lose a custom-created necklace, we will work directly with the original jeweler to ensure the replacement is closely matched, preserving the rarity of your piece.
Jewelers Mutual offers an "all-perils" policy, meaning you're protected from nearly every possible risk unless explicitly stated otherwise in your policy. This comprehensive coverage typically includes protection against loss, theft, damage, disappearance, natural disasters, inflation, and normal wear and tear*.
You valuables are not covered if loss or damage occurs to them due to war or military action, rodent or pest infestation, through intentional actions or voluntary parting, or deterioration. For specific details about your coverage, please review your policy documents.
If you’re signed up for paperless delivery, you can view your policy documents by logging into your online account and navigating to the ‘Policies’ tab. Your policy number can be found on your policy paperwork. You can also call us at 888-884-2424.
